About Amy

Hello there! I’m Amy Spitzfaden (actually, Spitzfaden-Both, but I figured my readers didn’t need another name to remember) and I’m so glad you’re here.

I write women’s fiction, new adult fiction, and chick lit. These genres aren’t always taken the most seriously, but I believe there’s a lot of depth and value to the issues girls and women face in every day life. I like to explore these themes first through the filter of myself, and then through the filter of my characters, seeing the differences in how I react and how they react, and finding compassion through the contrast.

My first book UNTOLD won the Writers’ Voices competition in 2013, and that was the beginning of my journey as a published author.

My journey as a writer, however, started in my early childhood. I grew up in a creative family, and spent years chipping away at a fantasy series that (so far!) hasn’t seen the light of day. Starting from when I was about 12, my mom, my older sister (and later my younger sister), and I would have annual writers’ retreats, where we would pack up, drive somewhere far enough away, and spend three or so days writing. It is still my most productive few days of the year.

In 2010 I started Fingerprinted Hearts when I was alone in bed for two weeks, recovering from getting my wisdom teeth out. Now, eight years later, it’s finally ready to share with the world. And my teeth are just fine, thank you.

This February I released my first short story, a romance called Storybook. I loved this experience, and have many other short stories brewing!

I live in New Hampshire, but travel as much as I can, and spend about 6 weeks in the Netherlands every year, visiting my husband’s family. If you want to see more of my writing, traveling, or outfits I’m trying to show off, be sure to follow me on Instagram! It’s my favorite place to share tidbits of my life.

Thanks for stopping by!

Amy
